Well... It's October

How did that happen?!

I just had a mini panic attack. My little man will be turning one in a little over two months. As if being an overly emotional mommy with how much he has been growing lately isn't enough to deal with... I've been talking for weeks about starting to plan his first birthday, but have yet to actually get the ball rolling.

So many things I have not been able to make a decision on!

Location. Theme. Cake. Decorations.

What to order. What to make myself.

I am seriously stressing out.

I know. It is his first birthday. He will never remember it. But I will. It will be small, simple. But I want it to be perfect.

I've seen so many adorable ideas on Etsy and Pinterest, I just have to start making some decisions. And that may sound like a simple task, but I may be the most indecisive person you will ever meet.

For all you mommies out there... any suggestions on throwing a first, first birthday party?!

pin.spiration

One of my unhealthy obsessions / addictions : Pinterest

My loving husband has witnessed this first hand... but as I always like to say, It could be worse, right?!

So, to this blog I bring you "pin.spiration" and I'm pretty sure that needs no explanation. :)

Once I finally get my little man to bed for the night, I usually take a few minutes to myself, to sit and relax- and that usually finds me aimlessly clicking around Pinterest. With thoughts that fill my mind such as "oh my gosh, that is so cute / my little man totally needs that" or "I have to make that" and "that looks so delicious" I rarely get to bed at a reasonable hour. And as long as I have a mug of coffee in the morning, I rarely regret my decision.

So today I bring you the first of many Pinterest related posts.

A couple months ago, one of my best friends and I had a "mommy's night out" and we attended a BYOB painting class. Thanks to Groupon we got an amazing deal, and we had such a fun night.

I want say, I went into this night just knowing I wanted to have fun (and a glass or two of wine!) I am crafty but not necessarily artistic... and I had no expectations as to how my painting was going to turn out / not turn out. All I knew is that I wanted to paint something for my little man.

After spending about ten minutes going back and forth trying to decide what masterpiece I was going to try to create, I settled on this for my inspiration.

I absolutely love the saying, and I loved the clouds. It was a winner.

We were there for a good couple hours, and again, I had so much fun. Great times with great company, and I was able to fully relax knowing my little man was safe at home with his Daddy.

Never. Ever. In a million years did I expect to love how my painting turned out. And I really never expected that I would love it so much, I would want to hang it in Jackson's room. But that is exactly what I did.

I know it's silly but it made me so happy to paint this for him. He is my world, and even when I have time away to myself he is all I think about!

Has anyone else ever taken a BYOB painting class? I will definitely be taking another one in the future!

Oh, Monday

via pinterest
Hello Monday!

I hope everyone had an amazing weekend. I know I did.

This was the first weekend in a long time, where we had no plans. There is something about not having to be on a schedule, and literally being able to do whatever you want. It was amazing.

Filled with family time, morning walks, football, some fall cleaning, and decorating. Oh, and coffee.

Here's to another week, make it a great one!

Review : Citrus Lane

Ever since I got my very first Citrus Lane box back in January, I was hooked. Seriously hooked.

Lets start here for those of you who are not familiar with Citrus Lane. "At Citrus Lane, we’re passionate about finding the best products for kids and parents, and sharing them with you. With a subscription, you’ll receive a signature Citrus Lane box each month with four or more products selected especially for the age and stage of your child. You’ll discover new parenting solutions and trusted brands--all delivered right to your door!"

As far as subscribing you have four options: monthly, three months, six months, or twelve months. With free shipping, a monthly or three month subscription will cost $25.00 per month. If you chose a six or twelve month subscription the cost comes down to just $21.00 per month. Although it is always nice to save a little money here and there, I do like that there is a monthly option for those of us on a budget.

Since I just started this blog, and have been a member of Citrus Lane for nine months. I will spare you and only update you on my favorite products so far. However, fair warning, I will update monthly going forward. :)

I will start with my very first Citrus Lane box that I received in January.

Mommy's Bliss - Gripe Water | $8.00 (4oz Bottle)
Tiny Love - Frankie Frog | $6.99

Pearhead - Keepsake Ornament  | $14.95

Chewbeads - Skinny Charles Bangles | $19.50

Before the sample of delicious sea salt caramel corn for the mommies, my very first Citrus Lane box totaled $49.44 which was an amazing deal, considering I paid just $25.00.

Did I mention it was like love at first sight?!

Where to being (I promise I will try to keep this short!) The gripe water was a great size to try, and it came in handy a handful of times. Mommy's Bliss Gripe Water is an all natural herbal supplement used to ease gas, and also fussiness that comes from teething, colic, and even hiccups. I would highly recommend all new mommies have a bottle of this on hand! My son was too little for both Frankie Frog and the Chewbeads when we first got our box, however they are now two of his favorite things. Frankie Frog has an amazing clip which makes him great to take out of the house while running errands. (Especially since Jackson has learned how to throw!) and the Chewbeads make one of the most fashionable teething toys! Not to mention they are made of 100% silicone, dishwasher safe, and BPA free. Last but not least, the Pearhead Keepsake Ornament was actually something I debated buying in the store on multiple occasions... Good things come to those who wait! I was so excited for this. I used it to make my son's hand and footprint, and gave it to my husband for Valentine's Day. I look at it all the time and compare just how big our little man has grown since then.

I'm not just saying this so my very understanding husband will let the Citrus Lane subscription continue (did I mention it goes until age five!) but some of my son's most absolute favorite toys have arrived in this little brown and yellow box! They are definitely doing something right when choosing their products, and I have yet to be disappointed. I will stop before this gets too long, and update on Jackson's Citrus Lane favorites in a part two! :)
